Amy Alden

Singing

Known to have a voice “like a velvet river”, Amy is a very experienced, classically trained singer. Gaining her ABRSM Diploma in singing at just 16, she went on to be a choral scholar at Royal Holloway, University of London, and freelanced in London as a soloist and ensemble singer. She has performed as a soloist and in professional choirs for concerts, recordings, BBC radio and events in the UK and abroad. She has recorded vocals for art installations, albums, film music and classical-crossover artists such as Joanna Forest, Carly Paoli and Russell Watson, with whom she toured as a backing singer. Amy’s repertoire is wide-ranging and she regularly performs as a soloist for the Midland Concert Orchestra, the Film Orchestra and with the accomplished jazz pianist, Jane Whittle. Teaching

Amy is an experienced and knowledgeable vocal technician. She runs a busy teaching studio with the aim of helping her students produce healthy, correct and efficient vocal technique, bloom in confidence and enjoy their voice! Amy’s teaching covers all genres of music at all levels. She is also a qualified teacher and has taught Music up to A level, very successfully, for over 15yrs. Choral Directing

Amy is the conductor of The TfO Choir and The TfO Youth Choir, which regularly perform alongside The film Orchestra (TfO). Amy also conducts The Shire Choir, a community choir located on the Shropshire/Herefordshire border. With a wealth of experience in leading music and choral departments in schools, she is a dedicated and passionate music educator who has witnessed first-hand the joy, sense of belonging, and confidence that singing can inspire! Amy will be performing solo with The film Orchestra and with the TfO Choir at this new festival!

16th October – ‘Feel the Spirit’ with Stourport Choral, Stourport.

Amy is the soloist for this wonderful setting of spirituals by John Rutter for mezzo soprano solo and chorus.

24th October – Cheltenham Film Festival with TfO, Cheltenham.
